Women in Medicine: Celebrating the Legacy, Embracing the Future took place Tues., October 16, 2018 and was held at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood from 7:30-9:30 a.m. This was the Healthcare Roundtable's 5th annual event devoted to honoring female healthcare professionals.

Women in Medicine Month is celebrated every September. It is an opportunity to honor those who have offered their time, wisdom and support to advance women in medicine. This month serves as a platform to feature the accomplishments of women healthcare professionals.

Since 2014, the Healthcare Roundtable has participated in the celebration each autumn by showcasing some of South Florida's special female healthcare professionals. We waited until October this year so as to (hopefully) avoid hurricane season. This year's provocative and timely panel discussion highlighted more remarkable women. They shared their unique stories of the challenges overcome and commented on the opportunities that lie ahead.

Meanwhile, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is every October. So, we've chosen to donate a portion of proceeds to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

"This was an invaluable opportunity for all professionals involved in the delivery of care to the elderly and disabled to learn cutting edge asset protection strategies," according to Marjie Aloni, Co-Producer of the event. Marjie's partner in the event, Jeff Herschler of FHIcommunications, added "Our senior citizens are vulnerable and care givers are essential to protect their health and wealth."
